Lunchbox Porn

The lunchbox (dinnerbox, actually) that I took to work yesterday. The log-shaped thing wrapped in plastic is half of a whole wheat tortilla stuffed with Curried Tempeh-Mango Salad from Vegan with a Vengeance and some sliced carrots. Next to it is a little pile of whole grain Wheat Thins. In the top left we have a mix of strawberries, blueberries, and a chopped nectarine. On the top right is the ever-present baby carrots.

If you're wondering why there's only half of a tempeh-mango wrap, it's because I ate the other half for lunch. That stuff is GOOD. I was skeptical, because truth be told the dressing smelled horrific, but in the end it was really tasty. It was a bit soggy for some reason, though, so next time I'll probably use less vinegar or something.

What a cute lunch container. The fruit looks great. Fresh and vibrant. I sometimes get into my lunch early. I'll be at work and if I've got something really kick-ass in my lunchbag, I'll eat it half of it around 10:00. I read that the Vegan Lunchbox probably won't be back in the fall, so you could take over with Lunchbox Porn.

The fruit looks so tasty! What a great Lunch(dinner)box. I think wraps always go soggy no matter what is in them - if I ever took one anywhere, I put the filling in a separate container and stuff the wrap when I'm ready to eat.

carrie - When I take my lunch to school I'll dig in early sometimes, if I forget to pack snacks. I was so sad to hear that Vegan Lunchbox is ending (as we know it, anyway). I don't think my lunchboxes are innovative enough to take over the Lunchbox Porn mantel... I do want to get one of those laptop lunchboxes, though.

freedom - Wraps do have that tendency. I find that lettuce or a dryish spread of some kind keeps them from getting too soggy, but this time I didn't have either on hand. Putting the filling in a separate container is a good idea - I've done that when I take tacos or burritos, since I like the filling to be warm.

Man, I love those wheat thins. I could eat a whole box in one sitting if guilt wasn't a problem for me.

That fruit looks yummy. Nifty lunchbox container too. What brand of tempeh do you usually use?

Porn-a-licious!

is that the container store lunchbox? It is really cute and a great size. I'm searching for a non dorky lunch box to bring to school this fall.

grace - Me too! I love the regular Wheat Thins, too, but I feel slightly more virtuous eating the whole grain ones. :)

vegan diva - I get the Lightlife plain soy kind. My grocery store/health food store only carry that brand, but it comes in like 3 or 4 different varieties. I like the plain soy best.

jessie - It's actually from Target! I got it a few months ago. They had them with blue and purple lids as well, but I'm a pink and green kind of girl. :) I like that the fork and knife fit right in the lid. It's got a pretty solid seal between the compartments, too, if the lack of fruity drippings on my wheat thins is any indication.

Of course its from Target. Why would one need to shop anywhere else. I'll have to go look for it maybe they still have it.

Hey look...berries! Glad to see your not just eating melons this summer!

jessie - I'm not at Target as often as I'd like, which is probably a good thing because whenever I go in it's like a law of the universe that I can't leave until I've spent at least 30 bucks. I hope they still have it for you! If not then they probably have some other fun food containers.

megan - I know! I felt the need to branch out when I walked by some particularly fragrant strawberries. Yum.

Lunchbox--WOOT!
Wrap, carrots and fruit salad--WSOT!

WSOT?! Stop speaking in tongues! :)

Wow, that looks fab! Nice lunchbox and great treats in it.

Thanks!
